Currently, we take insurance coverage from Premera, Cigna, Lifewise, and Kaiser (PPO only). Please be aware that some BCBS plans contract with a different insurance provider for mental health benefits. If you do not have one of these plans you will need to pay out of pocket for services. There are also some Cigna plans that do not cover mental health. You are responsible for contacting your own insurance to guarantee coverage regardless of your plan. I have chosen to opt out of medicare, therefore you may not bill medicare for any services rendered by me. For all medicare patients, you would be expected to pay out of pocket for services with the understanding that you will not be reimbursed by medicare.
It’s always best to double check with your insurance to ensure you will be covered before calling to schedule an appointment, as you would be responsible for any costs not covered by insurance for appointments.
If you don't have one of those insurances, I highly encourage you to contact your insurance company and ask about the out-of-network-rate. You might find yourself surprised at how much they can reimburse you for appointments that are out of network. With more and more therapists moving to out of pocket only, and most therapists only choosing to work with specific insurance companies, that could leave you with fewer options. So don't forget that you can look into this option with your insurance company and then submit a superbill to them to have them reimburse you for a portion of some of your out of pocket rate.
For out of network insurances you are responsible for paying in full for each session. You are free to submit to your insurances on your own, for any refunds of your portion of coverage. We provide you with a Superbill that has all the information needed for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
We also take out of pocket payment at your therapist’s regular rate. One of the benefits of paying out of pocket rather than insurance, is more privacy and control over your information. By paying out of pocket, insurance companies do not have access to your diagnosis or any progress notes. When using insurance they can request progress notes to prove that you have a medical necessity to be treated and to ensure the type of therapy you are receiving is considered, by them, to be evidence based. Insurances can also choose to change their mind about payment for sessions that have previously been rendered at any time, leaving the patient with unprecedented bills. By paying out of pocket you are in control over your sessions: you get to determine how long to stay in therapy and what you want to work on in each session (including issues that insurance might not pay for), and whether or not therapy is helpful for you.
If you are choosing to use your insurance, it is best to call your insurance company and find out your coverage for outpatient mental health, telehealth, in an office setting, prior to calling for a phone consultation. You are responsible for copay, coinsurance, or any unmet deductible. If insurance denies coverage then you are responsible for any unpaid balances in full. Please note that payment is due at the time of service and appointments will be rescheduled if you do not have the proper payment for sessions.
FEES:
Starting Jan 1st 2025 my fees will be increasing to:
$250 for the initial intake appointment
$200 for individual therapy appointments (53 minutes)
$250 for crisis appointments (53 minutes)
Any phone calls outside of session that go beyond 15 minutes are pro-rated by the minute. These fees are billed directly to you and are not submitted to insurance companies. Please note that I do not provide therapy over the phone, but I do provide virtual telehealth sessions. I do need to utilize both video and audio for sessions.
Additionally, you will be responsible for the full fee for session if you do not provide a 48 hour notice of cancellation of appointments. Insurance can not be billed for missed sessions. Once an appointment is scheduled you are responsible for paying for the full session regardless if you choose to utilize the full session or not. If you are more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, the appointment will be considered a late cancellation and you will be charged for the entire appointment.
